What does an anonymous tip hide on a cam site, and from whom?
In one sentence
A tip sent without your username showing. Where a platform writes what it hides, it is your name from the room or the performer; no document says it hides it from the platform.
What you pay for is not written
Chaturbate and CamSoda sell anonymous tipping inside a $19.95 monthly membership, and neither writes who it hides you from.9, 10, 11 You pay for a promise that no document defines.
What the documents do say points one way. No document we read says that a platform forgets who tipped, and two write the opposite: LiveJasmin, which has no anonymous tip, monitors and records the tips you send, and Stripchat monitors, records and logs your activities on the site.12, 13 Where the effect is written, an anonymous tip hides your name from the other viewers or from the performer. Nothing says it hides it from the platform, which records.
Three questions, not one
“Anonymous” does not hide the same thing everywhere. Before you rely on it, ask three separate questions: who sees the amount, who sees your name, and who keeps a trace. A document can answer one of them and say nothing about the other two.
What each platform says
| Platform | What the label is | The other viewers | The performer |
|---|---|---|---|
| MyFreeCams | two options: “Display this tip in the chat room” and “Anonymous tip” | unchecking the first keeps the tip out of the chat room2 | with the second, the tip comes from “Anonymous” instead of your username1 |
| Stripchat | a toggle, for Ultimate members5 | not said | the tip does not reveal your identity8 |
| Chaturbate | “Anonymous tipping”, in the supporter membership9, 10 | not said | not said |
| CamSoda | “Anonymous tipping”, in the Premium membership11 | not said | not said |
On MyFreeCams the two options are separate: hiding the tip from the room and hiding your name are two different boxes.1, 2
Invisible is not anonymous
Stripchat separates two switches.5 Invisible mode hides your name from the list of viewers, but models still see your name when you send messages or tips.7 Only the anonymous tip toggle hides it, and Stripchat warns that without it your nickname is visible when you tip, even in Invisible mode.5, 6
Paying without an account, browsing without a trace
isLive offers a Dial-In Anonymously option: its paid services are reached through a phone dial-in, with no registration, and a dial-in customer may be left out of some member promotions.14 Private browsing is another matter: OleCams explains that in an “Incognito” or private window your browser keeps no history, cookies or saved passwords.15 It hides your visit on your own device.15 Nothing we read says it hides your visit from the platform.
